Shin Splints is an over-use syndrome that can be directly attributed to excessive pronation or supination.  Shin splints can be experienced medically, laterally or anteriorly.  Generally, medial shin splints are associated with pronation whilst lateral shin splints occur as a result of supination or a high forefoot valgus deformity.  Lateral shin splints often result from a combination of pronation  and supination resulting from a forefoot valgus <10°.

ICB Orthotics effectively treat shin splints and provide pain relief by correcting excessive pronation or supination.  In the case of lateral shin splints the patient may exhibit a forefoot valgus deformity, which will require a forefoot valgus wedge to be added to the orthotic to aid treatment.
